Chastity’s Chess Challenge: October Update

I have been quite sick lately, and my voice is not what it needs to be. Because of this, I have been unable to speak in my videos recently. I still play Chess every day, and it shows by my improvement at the game.

On September 30, 2024, My father, who lives in Minnesota, was in town to visit me. I requested to play Chess with him at the park. I beat him twice with no trouble. He is good and put up a fight. However, he does not have the level of practice that I do because I play online every day.

But what really shocked me is that he was unaware of the en passant rule in Chess, where a pawn moves two spaces on its first turn, but the enemy pawn can capture it “in passing” as if it had only moved one space. The fact that he did not seem to have learned this or simply forgot reminded me that I need to do a video on this topic when I get the chance.

At this stage in my business, I am trying to establish credibility as a Chess Coach and also find time even to play Chess with local people of Lee’s Summit. For these reasons, I have decided to write this update and explain two central aspects of what I do.

1. I will play Chess locally with anyone in Lee’s Summit who contacts me. All we need is to set up a time to make it happen! I am an online Full Sail University student, and I work full-time at Walmart. My schedule keeps me quite busy, so if I forget about you, send me another message, call, or text me at 816-844-2077.
2. I play Chess online at “lichess.org”. It is the best site for playing Chess online because no ads are trying to get someone to pay for a “premium membership” for whatever that is supposed to mean. The entire site is an open-source project, and I donate $5 on a monthly basis because I believe in the principles of what they are doing. Anyone can challenge me online to correspondence games no matter what schedule I have or they have. It’s not the same as a real over-the-board experience, but it is the way I have improved.

It can be really hard to find local people who even know how to play Chess. It is because of this that I decided to start my business, Chastity’s Chess Challenge, to teach Chess to people who have heard of Chess but don’t know how to play or even where to start.

At least for now, I will be teaching people Chess for free. Those who find my services helpful and want to donate to me voluntarily can, but I won’t require it. In this way, my business model is identical to “lichess.org”. Besides, I love playing Chess, so you’re doing me a favor just by playing with me.
