  • Full Sail Discussion Post: Personal Branding Part 2

The logos, colors, and fonts, as described in my first post, are perfect the way they are, and I have spent years developing this style of color. Now that I have chosen a font that is freely available to use, I can begin working on new images to communicate what I am about as a person and also the main selling point of my business, Chastity’s Chess Challenge.

I have designed a new draft of a logo for my Twitch Streams that I can use sometimes. It combines the progress flag but also the very readable white text on a black background. In the center is the chessboard with the light and dark squares of C0 and 40 in hexadecimal.

What this image communicates is that chess is not for a specific group of people. You don’t have to be a rich white cisgender heterosexual man to play chess. People may have this idea that just because these people dominate the official over-the-board tournaments around the world, you can’t learn to play the game for your enjoyment with friends and family.

And with the internet, everyone has a way of being able to play with opponents in different countries! And the online chess scene is also a sport in every sense that football or baseball is. People do play competitively in tournaments and sometimes there even are cash prizes.

But for anyone who has played chess as long as I have, the greatest satisfaction is the war of the mind that takes place between two people. In the battlefield of the mind, there is no such thing as race, gender, or sexual orientation. Therefore, the progress flag reminds us that this game is for all people!

In fact, I asked AI to make a song about how Chess is for everyone. This will also be a part of my brand message.

  • Full Sail Discussion Post: Personal Branding

For personal branding, there are two major different logos I use depending on the context of what the content of a blog post is about. If I am talking about LGBTQIA topics, then the obvious choice is the progress flag. The following flag is an image I designed in Inkscape, and I use it on many of my social media sites so that people will know that I am one of the rainbow people. In fact, it’s quite effective because I get a lot of people flooding my comments on Instagram as a reaction to my profile picture. The colors are brighter than what you will see on other flags and were chosen for my autistic mathematical satisfaction.

But there are also times when the topic I am discussing or promoting is my business, Chastity’s Chess Challenge. In this case, I have specific images I also designed for a chessboard image. I have two of them with different colors for the checkerboard background. The first one is black and white which looks more visually pleasing to me. The second, with light and dark shades of gray, is probably easier for others to read. In both cases, they are made for people who are color-blind and only see grayscale anyway. This simplicity in color fits in with the theme of Chess anyway because it is a battle between the white and black pieces.

When it comes to fonts, they all look basically the same to me because I can read the letters and numbers of any font. However, there is a font family called Roboto that I made sure to install on both of my computers because it was part of the official streamer kit on lichess.org. Because Lichess is the site I recommend to everyone for playing Chess online, I decided to start using this font in all of my programs for a consistent look for the text in my Twitch Streams, Word Documents, and art designed in Inkscape. The following image shows what the font variants Normal, Italic, and Bold look like.

Colors are the most exciting part of my creative design. I will not hesitate to use any colors that are relevant to the project, but when it comes to my preferences in color, they can be reduced to the following 8 colors.

The colors in the image above are the ONLY 8 colors possible when the primary colors of light, Red, Green, and Blue are either zero or at their maximum intensity. The following list shows how they can be represented in binary, along with their English names.

    000 Black
    001 Blue
    010 Green
    011 Cyan
    100 Red
    101 Magenta
    110 Yellow
    111 White

Of course, these 8 colors are not enough to represent all colors that might be needed, not even for the Progress Flag at the top of this post, but they are always my top choices when designing a website.

As an artist, I carefully craft my images to be mathematically precise, and sometimes, this takes priority over how they actually look to other people. While it is important to catch the attention of people when the goal is to promote a message or a product, I would never commit the crime of destroying geometry or compromising on color because people prefer softer colors. I have my values, and I have consistently been using logos and colors like this, so my content has been pretty consistent over the years.

  • Conceived this way

It is common knowledge that the “born this way” argument has traditionally been used as a defense of gay rights. The basic premise is that being gay is something you are born with and is not a choice, just like your sex or skin color, and as such, cannot be a sin, nor can it be something as a reason for discrimination.

Two popular songs advance this idea to the general public.

“I Was Born This Way” by Carl Bean

“Born This Way” by Lady Gaga

Now, first, we must talk about whether this is true. Are people born gay? Absolutely. I am not a biologist, but I have friends who are, and I have read and watched documentaries on this topic, and I can easily make the case that, yeah, we are born this way.

But the story really begins before we are born. There are some basic facts that people don’t know about the development of children in the womb. I believe that intersex variations are the key to understanding this.

Some people are born with differences in sex chromosomes that don’t match the simplified XX and XY chromosomes most students are taught in school.

    To just name a few.

For example, some people have XXY chromosomes, and this is called Klinefelter syndrome. These people appear generally male but sometimes are infertile and have lower testosterone.

Some people have XY chromosomes but have androgen insensitivity syndrome and appear female because their body resists testosterone, so they develop looking like a female baby in the womb.

Turner syndrome is a condition where there is only one X chromosome. These people look like girls but don’t always have a normal female puberty due to lower estrogen and don’t grow like the others without taking extra hormones in some cases.

There are many more intersex variations than these, but the main point is that since these differences exist, some baby’s brains and bodies develop in a not strictly male or female. The sex binary is an illusion that is continued because a lot of intersex babies are aborted because the parents are told their child has a “genetic defect” and should be killed.

I believe that I have Klinefelter syndrome. I don’t have the money to pay for a test, but I have several signs. But if you think about it, wouldn’t someone with XXY chromosomes meet the definition of being both male and female chromosomally? Could this person grow up and then turn out to be gay or transgender? And if you look at the links between Klinefelter syndrome and autism as well, it doesn’t turn out to be a surprise that so many transgender women are computer programming and video game nerds. The transgender and autism connection is so common that there are stereotypes in the trans community about this!

And if someone has XY chromosomes and is therefore “genetically male,” as is commonly believed, would it really be any surprise that they may look like a female because of androgen insensitivity? Still, they may also be attracted to women instead of men as society expects them to just because they “look female” and society expects them to conform to heteronormativity?

Some of these intersex conditions are so extreme that people are born with more than one set of genitalia. Sometimes, doctors do surgery on these infants to “correct” them to what the doctors “want” the child to be. Sometimes, this happens with parental consent and sometimes without, but NEVER with the consent of the infant. After all, they can’t speak or write yet. How are they going to tell you which set of sex organs you should remove? People should leave intersex babies alone and let them decide when they are older what is right for them.

And, of course, not all people who are gay or transgender are intersex. Don’t misunderstand me because that’s not what I am saying. But we can’t ignore the role that intersex conditions play! Also, during the time we are formed in the womb and cells are multiplying, so many things can happen, and the hormone levels of our biological mothers are going to play a factor, as well as everything they eat!

So, is it any surprise that people are born gay or transgender? Not at all. But this information is not very well known and is often ignored by those who will, at all costs, cling to the idea that everyone is either male or female and nothing in between.

But if you are just a regular straight, cisgender male or female, it can be easy to assume everyone is like you. You wouldn’t even take the time to google this unless you were one of these people, know some of them, or maybe you’re just a complete nerd.

But what I am saying is that some of these intersex conditions take place even at the moment of conception and that some of us, when we are born, are going to have genitals that look different. Some of us may appear normal, but then, at puberty, we are suspiciously fabulous, and instead of having new feelings for those who look different than us, we notice others who look and act a lot like us. Still, now we feel different somehow, and we want to marry them, adopt children, homeschool those children, and teach them chess!

There is a lot I could say about how I figured out some of this as it relates to my own life, but the point is that it’s not enough to say we were “born this way”. Although true, it accidentally makes it sound as if a boy passes through his mother’s vagina, and it’s such a traumatic experience that he never wants to see another vagina in life, so he marries a man when he grows up. Yes, we are born this way, but it’s not at the moment of birth that we suddenly turn gay.

I think these facts are particularly important for the Pro-Life movement to recognize.

The Pro-Life movement has two particular problems.

    1. Most of them are Pro-Life only as part of their religion. Some religions like Christianity and Islam are not kind to gay people, and this idea that they are born/conceived this way is brushed aside because they will never listen to anything that is not included in their holy scriptures (not that they actually follow what their holy books DO say except when it comes to picking on gay people)
    2. As a whole, the LGBTQIA community has gone a bit too far when it comes to the promotion of their sexuality. As a reaction to the strict puritanical views of many Christian churches, they have reacted in a way that says, “We should have sex with as many people as we can” and “You need to have sex with other people before you get married so you are experienced”.

Obviously, I don’t follow either of these categories. I am not a traditional Christian, and I take the Bible about as seriously as I do a chess book, but I know that the opinions of the authors come from a bias that may not match my own. I am Pro-Life because I follow the Golden Rule, which is part of Jesus’s teaching. If I don’t want to be aborted, then I don’t abort somebody else!

And yeah, I am gay, but I’m not gay about it! In fact, I have never had sex with anyone. I am Chastity White Rose, the Vegan Virgin. And I am transgender, too, and that’s a lot for some people to handle! But for the context of understanding this post, my views on the topics of abortion and gay marriage are the following.

Abortion is murder and a violation of the Golden Rule. It is also hypocritical to be Vegan and then start killing human babies, which are also animals.

Some people are gay, and they should be able to marry the people they want to. What they do sexually (if they do anything at all, we don’t know. It could be a celibate marriage) is none of my business, nor is it anyone else besides those two people doing it. And I will go a step further and say that gay couples should be able to adopt children too, just the same as straight couples can, but are too busy producing their own and half the time aborting them!

I am one of the few who fully supports all gay and transgender people to do as they wish and not be discriminated against in marriage equality or employment. But I also don’t want them to be murdered before or after birth.

There are others like me, though! That’s why I joined the Rainbow Pro-Life Alliance, and we work to educate people about the evils of abortion and also how it affects those like us who were conceived this way.

Some people call themselves Pro-Life but hate gay people. These people would abort their children if they knew they would be gay. Unfortunately, we have the science to detect genetic “defects” and a Stone Age mentality among the human population, where they will kill anything that they see as a threat.

I only ask people that people let the babies live and let them be fabulous!

  • Heaven’s Door

    [Verse]
She thought she walked the righteous path
But never looked at what she’d left
Behind the smiles she wore in pride
Were tears of those who felt her wrath

    [Verse 2]
    Animals she left to bleed
    People she did not believe
    Love your neighbor she forgot
Now standing here at heaven’s gate

    [Chorus]
You didn’t love the way I said
You turned away from those who bled
Heart of stone within your chest
    You missed the point
    Let love be best

    [Verse 3]
    Mighty words
    But empty hands
Failed to see my simple plans
All my creatures need your care
Love is more than just a prayer

    [Chorus]
You didn’t love the way I said
You turned away from those who bled
Heart of stone within your chest
    You missed the point
    Let love be best

    [Bridge]
Jesus looked her in the eye
    Said
    “My child
    You missed the sign
    Love your neighbor as yourself
Is more than words upon a shelf”

  • SMART Goals / Career Strategy Map

    Short-term goal: Set a schedule

    Specific accomplishments

Establish a schedule for my studying and practicing the game of Chess so that I don’t get discouraged by work and school taking all my time away from my goal of being a chess coach. Treat this time like I would a Rainbow Pro-Life Board meeting or working at Walmart so that I don’t lose sight of the goals I have

    Measurements of success

My main metric for determining if I am making progress is the blog posts and videos I produce for teaching chess openings. By making regular posts such as once or twice a week, I can see that my progress towards my chess book that I want to publish or growing my Twitch Channel is consistent.

    Attainable outcomes

Setting up a schedule is at least attainable and doesn’t depend on other people. However, an outcome I predict is getting more comments or followers on my social media and blog.

Revelant points (how it relates to your career)

This goal is relevant to my career because my chosen career is to establish myself as both a local Lee’s Summit Chess coach that people know about to fill the void that exists in my town and also to become a very entertaining online gamer who plays and teaches chess concepts for enjoyment and also getting the word out about my business.

    Timeline for accomplishment

I expect to have a schedule planned out before July is over.

Mid-term goal: Improve online chess ratings

    Specific accomplishments

A chess rating is a specific measurement that is used in Chess all over the world that measures a player’s strength of mind in Chess. It increases when you win and decreases when you lose. The amount that it changes is based on the difference between your rating and your opponent. The goal is to get it above my current general 1500 to 1600.

    Measurements of success

I play Chess on multiple websites, but the ones that I am concerned with are lichess.org, playstrategy.org, and pychess.org because those sites all use the same formula. I will not account for chess.com because I have evidence that the cheating of opponents is taking place.

Side note: Cheating is actually quite measurable in online Chess, and it is too easy to accomplish. The greatest masters and experts have entire videos dedicated to how cheating is detected in online Chess. That is a post for another day!

    Attainable outcomes

I expect to get a rating of at least 2000. This number is reasonable as the goal is not to be higher rated than Magnus Carlsen or the Stockfish engine. Specifically, this will apply to correspondence and classical time control ratings because shorter time controls always lead to bad quality moves from both myself and opponents that do not represent the beauty of the sport that is Chess.

Revelant points (how it relates to your career)

Increasing my rating is a clear way to advertise that I am knowledgeable enough about the game that people expect to learn from me. It is reliable because it cannot be altered in any way other than playing actual games with people online.

    Timeline for accomplishment

I don’t think a time limit can apply to this because this goal is ongoing and will continue to improve as long as I live, but maybe before I graduate from Full Sail, I will also have achieved the ratings and skill.

    Long-term goal: Gain Students

    Specific accomplishments

I will get the word out through my written blogs and videos about teaching Chess, and I expect to get people interested in hiring me as a coach or at least playing games with me for fun.

    Measurements of success

There are two measurements I will use because I will have both free and paid students.

The first and most obvious is that when people pay me, I will keep track of this, and it will be my business fund that I can use for training materials, travel by Uber/Lyft to people’s homes, and place online ads on certain platforms.

The second will be my free students, who can pay me in a way that is not money but by being guests on my videos or writing online reviews to help let others know about what I do. This way, I will have a digital record of everything besides knowing the people.

    Attainable outcomes

The outcome will be both fame and money since people will want to watch or read my content online but there will be some who pay me for my time with them as well.

Revelant points (how it relates to your career)

My career is going to be a hybrid of Chess Coach and social media influencer which is something I do on top of any other local jobs I work. Everything I do will be relevant, and most of it will be online because I will never be able to drive a car and don’t expect to be able to work for big companies for a high income elsewhere.

    Timeline for accomplishment

This goal will be for my whole life, and as such, timelines don’t really apply, but I think within the next year, I will already have measurements for this goal and the two previous goals as well.
