Words with Friends: Best 11 letter word

This post will be about the highest scoring word I ever played in Words with Friends on Facebook. The game allows up to 11 letter words because of the size of the board.

Below is a picture of my profile on Words With Friends. You can see that my highest scoring and also longest word is quizzically.

The reason that quizzically scores so high is because it has a Q and two Z letters. These letter score high. However, you will need to use a blank tile for one of the Z because there is only one regular Z as far as I know.

I have only played this word once and I doubt I will get lucky enough to do it again, but for this post I want to do some theory and explanation on this word.

First is the definition:

In a quizzical manner; as if puzzled or asking a question.

The fact that it is an extension of quizzical means that quizzical is also a valid word.

In fact, there are quite a few sub words of quizzically:

quizzical
quiz
ally
call
all
al

These 7 sub words are important because it is impossible to play an 11 letter word in 1 turn. It will take at least 2 turns and quite possibly more. The best bet is to start with a smaller sub word and place it at a location on the board that would give it enough space to still be built into the entire word.

Below is a picture of the game board:

To get the highest possible points would also require placing tiles on 2 Triple Word Score spaces. This can be done but it would require starting with the middle of the word with the sub words call or ally and then building from there.

As seen in the first image in this post, I got 378 points for playing just this word, however it might be theoretically possible to score even higher with it if it was placed in a better position.

Let me know if you have ever managed to play this word! It is a rare sight to behold!
